TRFC Week 4 Recap: Monsterman74 Dominates The Field
October 6, 2015 – by Seth Trachtman
After a high-scoring Week 3, the FanDuel scores were much lower in Week 4.
In the TeamRankings Football Challenge, our weekly FanDuel tournament for TeamRankings users, Monsterman74 led the pack with 155.48 points. The next three spots were heavily impacted by Monday Night Football.

ToggleOur Week 4 contest had a $10 entry fee, with a guaranteed $6,000 prize pool distributed to the top 300 scores, which each doubled their money.
In addition, the top three finishers won a free entry into our $25,000 Week 11 Final, where they are each guaranteed to win a minimum of $500, up to the grand prize of $3,000. That possibly huge Week 11 payout provides a great incentive to enter our private tournament over the typical contests in the FanDuel lobby.
Capped at 660 entries, our Week 4 contest completely filled by Saturday late morning, a new record for us. Thanks to everyone that played, and apologies to those who tried to enter but were locked out. Make sure to enter our Week 5 tourney as early as you can!
Week 4 Winners
As noted above, Monsterman74 claimed first place, followed by fortyninetime in second place and yamagotchi in third.
The difference between second place and fourth place was only 1.1 points, and fortyninetime gained a decisive two points from the Seattle defense on a “fumble recovery” that was actually a blown call by the back judge.
That was an extremely hard pill to swallow for our fourth place finisher knowsean, who deserves mention here. But as fantasy football players know all too well, only three things are certain in life: death, taxes, and blown calls. Our heartfelt fantasy football sympathy goes out to knowsean (and all Lions fans, while we’re at it).
Here are the winning lineups for Week 4:
1st Place – monsterman74
2nd Place – fortyninetime
3rd Place – yamagotchi
Analysis of the Winners
There’s an extreme contrast between this week’s winners and last week, with monsterman74 only having two 20-plus point scorers in his lineup. Last week the first place lineup had six 20-plus point scorers. Devonta Freeman and DeAndre Hopkins were the top gets for the first place lineup, though the lineup only had two players not shared on the second and third place lineups (Carson Palmer and Amari Cooper).fortyninetime’s lineup was the most unique of the three, though certainly not much different. His unique players included Derek Carr, Larry Fitzgerald, Mason Crosby, and the aforementioned Seahawks defense. As the third place finisher, yamagotchi had a Packers stack that didn’t fare nearly as well as Week 3. However, Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb, and James Jones were each unique picks among the top three finishers. All three lineups had Devonta Freeman, Karlos Williams, and Martellus Bennett. Freeman was easily the week’s top point scorer, while Williams’ reasonable salary helped teams splurge at other spots. Williams was owned on an incredible 67% of lineups in the TRFC Week 4 Qualifier.
Looking Toward Week 5
We’ll be awarding three more entries into the $25,000 Week 11 Final of the TeamRankings Football Championship this week.
Like last week, this week’s format is a double up with another $6,000 prize pool and a maximum of 660 entries. The top 300 entries will double their $10 entry fee, and the top three finishers are guaranteed at least $500 in cash come Week 11, with $3,000 in cash going to our Week 11 Final winner.
This week the entry limit is 25 per person, with the deadline on Sunday at 1:00 pm ET. Last week’s contest filled on Saturday morning, so don’t wait to enter!
